How to Remove Salsa Stains from Carpet

Whether you are spending some quality time with your family or watching a baseball game, you’ll definitely be having some refreshments while you enjoy your leisure time.

Unfortunately, one little accident and you find a small scoop of salsa on your exquisite wool carpet. Luckily, you can avoid the small stain from ruining your exciting evening. While cleaning the mess, you just have to follow these simple steps and voila! your carpet is as good as new again.

Use Spoon/Blunt Knife to Scrape the Food

Quickly scoop the spilled salsa from your carpet using a dull knife/spoon. Remove as much of the excess spill as you can before you proceed with the next step. While doing this, make sure the spill is not spreading to the unaffected carpet area.

Blot the Stain with Cleaning Solution

Use an absorbent towel/paper towel, dip it in a warm cleaning solution and place it on the stained area. Do not rub or you’ll spread the stain.

Gently work from the outside of the stain towards the center. Repeat the process until you do not see the stain.

Dry the Spot with White Towel

Use a white, clean towel to dry the area. See if the cloth is still picking up the color and repeat the blotting process until the color is not visible.

To remove the dampness, place a thick towel over the area and keep a heavy object on the top for quick drying.

Apply Vinegar Solution

In case the stain remains, then sponge the area with the vinegar solution. Dilute half cup of vinegar with one cup of warm water and use a spray bottle to mist the area.

Spray lightly and let it sit for few minutes. Grab a clean cloth and blot the area. Using vinegar, you will not just remove any remaining stain but prevent water-marking.

Rinse & Dry

Once you remove every trace of stain, you have to flush out the residue. If not, the sticky residue can become a dirt magnet, eventually making the spot soiled again.

To rinse, add some warm water to the affected area, use a microfiber cloth and blot the area until it’s completely dry.

Stains can set in very easily into the fabric. The longer you leave them; tougher will be your job. So, act fast and you’ll prevent the stain from doing further damage. Just follow the instructions and you’ll be successfully removing the stain without much time and effort.
